Intensives

I was trained in the marriage intensive model that was developed and is promoted by the founders and staff at The Hideaway Experience in Amarillo, TX. I’m currently on staff at The Hideaway Experience so much of my intensive work is based on the model 5 Days to a New Marriage.

Sometimes marriages need an extra level of intensity applied to them in the therapeutic context in order to become unstuck, and promote healthy growth. Intensives can provide that extra boost that often takes weeks or months to achieve in traditional weekly counseling.

Intensives are designed for couples who are both open and committed to positive change in their marriage. You and your spouse might believe that you have a good marriage, but are wanting a great marriage. Or maybe you both feel that your marriage is headed in the wrong direction and you are looking to create positive change. Possibly the two of you find that you are at odds on a number of issues and are looking for healthy ways to solve issues. If your marriage falls into any of these categories, then a marriage intensive might be for you.

You and your spouse can choose to come up during an intensive where I will be one of the therapists, or you can join another weekend with two other great therapists who will help guide you through your four day experience. My scheduled intensive dates for 2012 at The Hideaway Experience are:

April 18-22
June 6-10
November 7-11

The Hideaway Experience
The Hideaway Experience is a marriage intensive like none other. It is located on a beautiful ranch nestled on the edge of the Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo, TX. For four straight days, you and your spouse will join three other couples, and two therapists for an amazing marriage experience. Here is a little of what the founders Steve and Rajan Trafton have to say about the marriage experience:

Our four day Marriage Intensive program gives a couple the chance to work within a group context of four couples with two highly trained marital therapists. The couples work in experiential and group activities designed to help them set their marriages on a new path. Therapists work with couples to identify the root causes of their marital distress; then teach each how to take personal responsibility and learn to work together as a team to transform and restore their relationships. Each day couples work in a group with therapists for 6 to 8 hours as well as working with their spouses in practice activities. There is scheduled free time each day and ample time to reflect and enjoy the setting. Couples have their own room, private bath and take their meals with the therapist.
